Jury Acquits Client of Child Molesting

CROWN POINT | Charles Wesley Nash, of Gary, was found not guilty of child molestation by a jury Tuesday.

The trial for Nash, 47, began Monday and concluded Tuesday. Lake County prosecutors charged Nash with Class A felony child molestation after a grand jury indicted him in 2013.

Charges were based on allegations from a relative that Nash had repeatedly molested her from 2002 to 2007 while the family lived first in Gary and later in Schererville. Due to the length of time between the last alleged molestation and the first police report made, there was no physical evidence.

The case focused on a letter the then-19-year-old victim wrote to her mother in May 2012.

Attorney Scott King represented Nash, while Lake County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Michelle Jatkiewicz represented the state.
