Lakeisha Murdaugh joined the law group as an associate in 2013.  Together with Scott King, she has represented hundreds of clients in criminal cases in both state and federal courts, on the trial and appellate levels.  Mrs. Murdaugh became a partner in 2018. She embraces criminal defense and her practice focuses on a variety of offenses, including: sex crimes, murder, theft crimes, drug crimes, firearm crimes, domestic violence, DUI/OWI, assault, battery, burglary, conspiracy, hit & run, fraud, violation of restraining orders, and obstruction of justice. She also handles legal matters involving pre-file investigations, probation violations, seizure of personal property by law enforcement, expungements, and warrants.  Mrs. Murdaugh has gained a reputation as a strong and passionate advocate for her clients.  She takes on the challenge and figures out ways to succeed, sometimes when success doesn’t seem possible.

Before joining the firm, Mrs. Murdaugh spent nearly a decade as a licensed Direct Child Care Worker for children and families involved with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.  She gave up her career in social work to enroll in law school.  Mrs. Murdaugh brings a unique background to the practice of law.  She draws on her diverse background to enhance her ability to resolve difficult conflicts that are often highly emotional. She is compassionate with clients, but provides effective and impressive representation before the courts. In addition to adult criminal matters, Mrs. Murdaugh handles CHINS and juvenile delinquency matters.

Mrs. Murdaugh received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University in 1994 and her Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2012.   While in law school, Mrs. Murdaugh honed her talent for oral advocacy. She earned various awards and distinctions taking nothing short of first place in various competitions throughout the United States including: Best Oralist of the 2012 Domenick L. Gabrielli National Competition and Best Oralist of the 2011 Susan J. Ferrell International Human Rights Competition.  She was also awarded Best Overall Brief Writer and Oral Advocate in the 2010 International Moot Court Society Intraschool Competition.
